Comprehensive Jacket Guide: Which Jacket is Best for Every Mountain Adventure?

Trying to find or choose the right jacket for your adventures can be an overwhelming task. Depending on the temperature, forecast, activity, etc., the decision on which jacket can be a make or break for success in the mountains. Pack too light, you could go home with hypothermia. Pack too heavy, you might not reach your goal (or you’ll be sweating the entire time). Those are just a few things that can go wrong if you chose the wrong jacket. Review: Backcountry x Black Diamond Stone Garden Crag Backpack

Are you the type of person who shows up to a crag, with your rope and cams stuffed into a cramped, old pack, spending the first 15-minutes of your “climbing” time trying to get your gear ready? Do you look over at the other climbers and their fancy crag bags, standing upright on its own, with all their gear neatly organized and easily accessible with just a slight jealousy? Well, I’ll tell you right now, a crag bag is just as crucial to your climb as the rope. Okay, maybe that’s a stretch, but it has made my time climbing …

Review: Five Ten Kestrel Boas Mountain Bike Shoes

First off, I never thought I’d be wearing clipless mountain bike shoes, let alone reviewing a pair. Nevertheless, here I am with a pair of FIVE TEN KESTREL PRO BOAs on my feet and couldn’t be more stoked about it!  First off, I’ve been riding clipless on my road bike for 5 years now, so I’d say I’m super comfortable and used to the clipless setup.  I thought riding challenging terrain was just way to sketchy to be clipped in for, let alone downhill sections. So I used to swear by riding flats on my full suspension mountain bike. But …

Review: Black Diamond JetForce Tour 26L Avalanche Airbag

The JetForce Tour was built with the same impeccable quality and reliability you can expect from a Black Diamond product. I’ve gone on 10 tours in the Wasatch with this pack and have put it through the ringer (except for an avalanche). Enough days and hours to be able to review the pack in the following categories: Technology, Functionality, Size, Weight/Comfort, and Price.  Note, this is my first avi pack, but I did plenty of research before getting this pack and feel like I can make an accurate comparison. Reviewing an avalanche airbag pack can be, in my opinion, difficult …

Review: North Face Ventrix Hoodie

Each year, companies come out with their new line of apparel. And each year I think the same thing. How could this lineup be any different than last years’, or the year before that? And how could they justify the price tag they put on it. Especially when it’s not uncommon for pullovers to run a price tag over $100, shells to be in the $200-$400 range, and beefy down jackets to be anywhere from $200-$800+. It’s absurd! Mavic Air | Best Drone for Adventure Filmmaking/Photography

Finally, DJI has released the ideal drone for us adventure filmmakers and photographers. This summer I finally spent the money to upgrade camera bag with the DJI Mavic Air, and I have zero regrets. This review is based off my prior experience with the DJI Phantom series drones and how much better the Mavic Air is. This review is more for those who are familiar with drones, drone capability/limitations, and are maybe looking to get a smaller drone to take with them on every adventure, not just the big ones.  I’ve broken this review down into 4 categories: Size, Camera, …

Peak Designs Capture Clip | Review

The Peak Design Capture has single handedly change the way I’m able to capture photos and videos. This neat little device doesn’t directly affect the photos or videos themselves, but it allows me to have my camera always ready and secure at the same time. Those two things seemed impossible before when only using a camera strap or stowed away in a pack.  The Capture is a two part device: 1st part is a metal clip that clamps onto a backpack strap or belt and the 2nd part is  an Arca tripod-compatible plate that screws into the bottom of your …

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite | Review

The Therm-a-Rest NeoAir XLite is by far the most important item I now take on any backpacking/camping trip. Arguably more important than my camera, backpack, or even water. If you’re anything like me, the worst part of camping is waking up sore in the morning, and that soreness has nothing to do with the previous days’ activities. I’m a side sleeper, so I’d wake up with a sore neck, shoulders, and back whenever I’d sleep on a foam pad, hybrid inflatable/foam pad, or other inflatables. Without exaggeration, I get an equally good sleep on this NeoAir XLite inflatable sleeping pad …

Feiyu Tech 3-Axis Wearable Gimbal Stabilizer | Mountain Bike Review & Unboxing

After getting a few rides in with this Gimbal, I sat down to review the pros & cons of the Feiyu Tech FY-WG 3-Axis Wearable Gimbal Stabilizer for Gopro HERO 4, 3+ and 3. It is an absolutely incredible & necessary piece of filming equipment for those looking to get solid footy from their rides out on the trails and beyond. First off, the gimbal does exactly what is expected of it. It keeps all the footy buttery smooth no matter if you are turning hard into berms, flying off jumps, crushing rock gardens, or what ever the trail could …

Norway is better than Iceland

This is not click-bait, as much as it pains me to write that anywhere on this Earth better than Iceland, Norway has topped the list! In 2016, my 3 friends and I took a road trip around Iceland, from Rif through Reykjavik and past Vik into Hof. We hiked, explored, partied, and soaked in all the beauty that the country could offer. It was truly a trip of a lifetime that I never thought could be surpassed. However, a trip to Norway in 2017 with my girlfriend sought to take the top spot on my list. We also took a …
