When your friends tell you it’s gonna be a big day, and those same friends are in way better shape than you, it should’ve been my first clue. Nonetheless, we set up from Flagstaff Gully with a bunch of skiing ahead of us. The plan was to ski from Little Cottonwood Canyon, down to Big Cottonwood Canyon, where we had parked a shuttle truck earlier that morning. That in itself isn’t a big deal, but knocking out a few laps on the way was going to be where all the very really is. After climbing the sun rusted southern aspect …

The Perfect Campsite | Gemini Bridges Moab
What exactly is the perfect campsite? Is it one where the views are so incredible you never want to leave? Is it a place so close you can get to after work? Or is it so far down a dirt road, that most will never know it’s there? Well, I guess “Perfect” is relative, and what is perfect for me might not be perfect for you. But after this past weekend, I think I might have found the perfect campsite. Like anything in life, the harder something is to get, the more we want it. And that could not describe …
Backcountry Skiing Thunder Mountain (Lake Peak) | Trip Report
The goal was to ski a little known chute known as Lake Chute. Tucked away below the summit of Thunder Mountain, in the Cirque that contains both White Baldy and Red Baldy, is a wide chute. So steep at some points, you wish you brought your ice axe. But of course, not everything works out according to plan. A group of 5 of us, Pete, Kyle, Mike, Brett, and myself, all met up at the White Pine Trailhead to go over our plan for the day. Once the route and backup ski plans were set, we performed our safety checks, …
Photo Gallery | Skiing Jackson Hole
I’ll be the first to tell you how lucky I am to have Jackson Hole located within a 4.5hr drive from me. That isn’t much further than Stowe was from where I lived in Hartford, CT. Needless to say, when my two buddies, Kyle and Pete, said they were headed up there for the weekend to ski, I jumped on the opportunity. The original plan was to ski a big line in Grand Teton National Park, but Jackson was getting dumped on the preceding couple days. With avalanche danger too high, we resorted to coughing up some $$$ and bought day passes to ski Jackson Hole (pun intended). Not a bad backup plan.
After working our way through the endless lift lines, we finally reached the Thunder Chair where we spent nearly the entire day. Lap after lap, we skied the woods under the Thunder Chair and Tower Three Chute. And the snow dumping and wind whipping, we were finding deep snow all day long! Here’s some of the photos from the shoot.

Yurt Trip in Monticello, Utah
Packs of coyotes howled just outside of the thin Yurt walls in the dark, moonless night. Wet aspen logs crackled in the wood-burning stove for hours and hours as we sat around, drinking beer and eating chili. And even though the temps only dropped further and further as the night went on, and the fire slowly died off, it was all worth it to experience desert yurt life, even if it was only for a weekend. But an epic weekend it was… even though I did crash my drone. Since both Courtney and I’s season ski passes had blackout dates …
Explore Kanab, Utah | Coral Pink Sand Dunes & Peak-a-Boo Slot Canyon
Every year, for Courtney’s birthday, I try to plan something special. The first year in Utah, we went down to Zion National Park. Last year, we went down to Moab and rented a Side-by-side. This year, we headed down to the desert once again, to the tiny town of Kanab. Smaller than the bustling oasis of Moab, but full of adventure! And that, we found a ton! Saturday morning, we got up early to go sandboarding at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park just outside of town. Yes, you read that right, sandboarding. The drive in was nothing short …
Goals for 2020
2020, a new year, a new decade, a new me (right?). Well no, not exactly. Each year, for me, builds on the last. I don’t come up with absurd goals that I don’t think are achievable or realistic. I also try to make sure that these goals push me outside of my comfort zone and force me to get better at everything I do. Even though most of my goals are in the mountains, and pushing my limits there, the real challenge is elsewhere. The real challenge is now completing all these goals with a new job. See, for the …
My Bests of 2019
2019 will forever be a year I remember for the rest of my life, it was a milestone year in the true sense of the word. I asked the love of my life to marry me in one of the most fitting ways, we bought a condo together earlier in the year, climbed some of the most incredible mountains, and oh yeah, skied some 70+ days last year. There’s no way I could ever summarize this year into a post (or even twelve), but it’d be foolish not to look back on the best memories and highlights from this year. …

Slickrock Mountain Bike Trail | Moab, UT
Some classic mountain bike trails fall short of the hype, but when it came to the Slickrock trail in Moab, UT, it far exceeded the expectations. Ever since I heard about this trail, it’s been on my bucket list. For some reason though, every time I go riding in the desert, we end up on another epic trail. So after two years of living in Utah, I finally got my tires on the infamous Slickrock trail. And let me tell you, it was an epic ride! The trailhead is located 3 miles West of town, in the Sand Flats Recreation …
