Our first stop was by far the most out-of-this world. Heading into the massive, towering San Juan mountains for the first time blew my expectations out of the water. The transition in the landscape from the desert plateau of Montrose into the tight canyon where Ouray is nestled, then up the Million Dollar Highway over Red Mountain Pass. That alone makes the trip worth it! A highway that cuts up a narrow canyon riddled with avalanche paths, it’s amazing this highway is ever open during the winter. After, what felt like, hours of searching up and down the dirt road, …

Colorado Road Trip
This trip was something Courtney and I have been dreaming about since moving out to the West. Yet, it’s been something we’ve been putting off for years because it was almost too feasible. Unlike a vacation that requires plane tickets and months of planning, this trip was comparatively easy. Our plan was to drive around to a bunch of mountain and ski towns of Colorado during the summer months, camping just outside of each town. That way, there was no reservations, not deadlines, just get in the truck and go. For this reason, we’ve just put it off year after …
Explore Kanab, Utah | Coral Pink Sand Dunes & Peak-a-Boo Slot Canyon
Every year, for Courtney’s birthday, I try to plan something special. The first year in Utah, we went down to Zion National Park. Last year, we went down to Moab and rented a Side-by-side. This year, we headed down to the desert once again, to the tiny town of Kanab. Smaller than the bustling oasis of Moab, but full of adventure! And that, we found a ton! Saturday morning, we got up early to go sandboarding at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park just outside of town. Yes, you read that right, sandboarding. The drive in was nothing short …

Our Desert Engagement | Ding & Dang Canyon
To say that I was nervous might be the understatement of the century. I couldn’t sleep the night before and my hands were shaking the entire hike leading up to the moment. Little did I know that the hard part wasn’t going to be asking Courtney to marry me, rather the descent through Dang Canyon turned out to be 10x more difficult. All said and done, I wouldn’t have had it any other way. Zachary KenneyHi there, my name is Zachary Kenney and I’m an adventure filmmaker & photographer. Mt. Timpanogos Hike
The summit of Mount Timpanogos can be view from nearly every direction whether you’re down in Provo, from the summits in the Cottonwoods, or just driving through Heber City. And ever since we saw its snow capped ridgeline when first visited Salt Lake, back in February of 2017, we knew we just had to hike it. On Saturday, September 14th, five of us, with two dogs, hit the Aspen Grove trailhead in hopes to be on the summit a few hours later. At 11,749 feet, Mount Timpanogos (or Timp), is the second-highest summit of the Wasatch Mountains. From the Aspen …
Backpacking in the Uintas
“This place is incredible, why do we not come here every single weekend?” I remember asking Courtney just after passing Clegg Lake. Our friend Brett promptly reminded us that just two weeks prior, the bugs and mosquitos were so bad, they left bite marks through their pants and clothes. “Oh, yeah, that’s why we only get to spend a few months here every year. Nevertheless, the bugs were gone this weekend, and we had one of the best backpacking trips we’ve ever been on! With the long weekend ahead of us, we wanted to plan something new to do for …
Awe Inspiring Hike to Candy Cliffs | Campfire Stories
What if I told you there was another place, equally as stunning as those hikes in Utah’s National Parks, that you could have all to yourself. Well that place is called Yant Flat or Candy Cliffs. And these cliffs are just outside of St. George in Southwest Utah.

Little Wild Horse Slot Canyon
Little Wild Horse Canyon is an awesome slot canyon, and one I can’t recommend enough to anyone looking to hike their first slot canyon. Located just outside of Goblin Valley State Park in the South-Central region of Utah’s desert, it’s only a 4hr drive from Salt Lake City and 2hrs from Moab. The canyon itself is stunningly beautiful, with eroded sandstone walls that you could spend a lifetime exploring. The best part about this experience, is that it isn’t a technical route. That means, no ropes (or canyoneering experience) is required. Simply lace up those hiking boots and follow the …
